Quincy Restaurant Solves Hot-and-Cold Spot Problem
Restaurant · Quincy, MA

The Problem
A popular Quincy restaurant struggled with extreme temperature differences between the kitchen and dining room. Diners near the kitchen were uncomfortably warm while those by the windows were cold in winter. The old central HVAC system could not handle the competing demands.
Our Solution
We designed a 4-zone heat pump system with independent controls for the dining room, bar area, private dining space, and kitchen corridor. Each zone maintains its own temperature regardless of what the kitchen is doing. We also handled the full MassSave application.
The Results
The dining room now stays at a consistent 72 degrees regardless of kitchen activity. Energy costs dropped 38% compared to the old system. The owner received a $9,500 MassSave rebate, and the improved comfort has led to noticeably longer dining times and better online reviews mentioning the ambiance.
“Our dining room used to be a furnace near the kitchen and an icebox by the windows. Now every table is comfortable. Our customers stay longer and our energy bill is lower.”
Don’t wait until your system breaks down in the middle of summer
